I’ve been a woodworker since middle school — and along the way a designer, architect, and multi-instrumentalist. Lutherie found me at RISD, and it became the place where all of it converged.
From 2004 to 2010 I apprenticed with Karl Dennis in Warren, RI, backed by grants and apprenticeships from the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts — channeling woodworking, mandolin playing, design, and a generally obsessive work ethic into carved instruments. I still collaborate with builders across the country, archtop masters John Buscarino and Otto D’Ambrosio among them.
The Outlier Workshop is my outlet for the ridiculous and the sublime: instruments meant to meet the demands of today’s best players — and the high bar set by the craftspeople around me.
