The convex thumb plane owes its curve to one of Karl Dennis’s — perfect for working recurve and the underside of a fingerboard, and famous for raising blisters. Mine keeps the curve, adds an ebony wedge of Karl’s design, and comes in 420 stainless or silicon bronze. Made one at a time, to spec on request.

A tailpiece I cast rather than stamp: 420 stainless and bronze, nickel-plated, entirely rigid. The strings lose nothing to flex, and the instrument keeps the sustain. Some are cast in sterling silver, and other builders run the design with their own logos.
